The order comprises 300 MAN TGA-WW 40.400 6x4 tippers and water tankers, to be delivered as CKD (completely knocked down) kits and assembled in the new MAN assembly plant in Jeddah. A further 60 TGA-WW 41.400 8x4 are complete vehicles with 12-cubic-metre mixer bodies.
In addition, MASCO has ordered 26 MAN TGM all-wheel drive vehicles for construction site operation. All the MAN vehicles will be deployed on the construction of the new high-speed railway line between Mecca and Medina.
The MAN TGA-WW series vehicles were designed especially to meet the requirements of regions in the Middle East. It was only in January 2009 that MAN and Haji Husein Alireza & Co. Ltd. opened an assembly plant for MAN TGA-WW trucks and tractors for the Gulf market.
MAN Nutzfahrzeuge has been represented in Saudi Arabia for 25 years already by the importer Haji Husein Alireza & Co. Ltd. (HHA) and has a countrywide sales and service network for MAN vehicles. In 2008, MAN's share of the market for European manufacturers of trucks over 16 tonnes was 23%.
